Crown Gall symptoms on Rose

Crown Gall (bacterium - Agrobacterium tumefaciens): Woody galls form on lower stems and root tissue. If the gall encircles the lower stem or main roots, the plant may be killed. Do not plant nursery stock showing symptoms. Resetting galled plants in raised beds may prolong their life. Sterilizing the soil prior to planting is helpful only if the organism is not introduced on the transplant.
